Removing VA7100 AND A5158A HBA's

RP5450 (L2000) HPUX 11.0 Will soon be getting a new HP SAN, all turbo slots are full, two of the turbos are A5158A HBA's connected to
VA7100 that is no longer being used.

Question: What steps to take to completly remove the VA7100/A5158A HBA's from the RP5450?

Hi,

stop all apps accessing LUNs on the VA
umount all filesystems except rootVG or VGs on non-VA disks
deactivate all VGs on VA LUNs
vgexport all VGs on VA LUNs
stop CommandView agents
swremove CommandView
run rmsf -H for each VA LUN
switch off VA
halt rp5450
take out A5158 HBAs
.....
(guess you will add new 2Gbit cards, attach to FC switches etc. etc.)

Regards
Bernhard

P.S you should consider upgrading to 11.11 before you deploy the new SAN equipment.

Re: Removing VA7100 AND A5158A HBA's

Thanks For the reply,
My question lacked some info.
The SAN we are getting is replacing a SAN
we got several years back, The L2000 was set up at that time on the 1st SAN and the
VA was removed from File Systems,Volume groups etc.... I need info on removing the A5158A cards/Hardware.

Thanks

In this document on page 16, you find the way to install additional IO cards. It is the same way to remove cards.
