Removing the first disk group from an EVA

Is there any issues or proceedures related to removing the first disk group from an EVA.

During the EVA initalization it creates the first disk group. If you later create other disk groups and want to completely remove the first disk group, can you simply delete it or is there a process that must be followed?

Re: Removing the first disk group from an EVA

Uwe,

Thank you. That note just says that deleting the group will cause a controller re-synchronization and that the new firmware and CV will warn you if you are about to delete the group.

Do you know if the re-synchronization is the only issue? If that is it, I'll just remove the disk group when there isn't host traffic.

Re: Removing the first disk group from an EVA

Bill,
I have not seen any more information about this topic. The advisory does not even talk about controller firmware revisions, so I think you are reasonably safe. I can't really say I have ever removed the default disk group.

If you don't want to risk you job, you might log a call and let the call handler try to find somebody @HP who can definitely answer this question ;-)
