Replacement for a 36.4 10k drive
I have a Compaq DL380 with (4) 36.4GB 10k RPM drives in a RAID 5 config . I want to add a hot spare to this config but HP/Compaq has discontinuted the 36.4gb 10k model. What do I substitute this with?

Re: Replacement for a 36.4 10k drive
Hi Scott,
You can try to put new compatible drive (from hp itself),
or you may purchase a new 36GB HS HDD ( you are talking of hot spare so it should be a hot swappable hdd, otherwise it is not required to put the same part no. as you can fix any NHS HDD on a server)& fix it on a hot swap bay which is removed from a defective HDD. You can't use dummy bay for fixing HDD.
Hope this will help you to conclude..
Regards,
Shameer
