Replacement of Smart 532 Controller

The Smart 532 Controller of my Proliant ML370 just died (red led at the back) and I cannot detect the HDDs connected to my drive cage. If I were to replace it with the same controller or a different controller (is Smart 221 Controller compatible?) how will I go about it? What will happen to the data in the disks? Thanks!

Re: Replacement of Smart 532 Controller

Configuration data (like array, logical disk configuration, etc) are always (cpq/hp array controllers) wrote to the hard drives. If you replace your damage sa532 with new one, just plug the server back. if you want to replace it with sa221, its more difficult - array configuration will be visible on hardware level (logical drive on sa221 durring the boot), but sa221 use other os driver then sa532 -> in windows environment you could have blue screan...
