Replacing Disk in P2000

According to the P2000 Log file, there is one disk recording disk errors in the log. I want to change the disk out before it fails. What is the correct procedure to replace a running disk in the P2000? The disk is a 600GB SAS drive. The vDisk is RAID 5. There are two global spares in the P2000. Thanks.

Re: Replacing Disk in P2000

Just pull the disk.
Then one of the spares will take over.
When you replace the disk you need to assign the new disk as a spare.

Re: Replacing Disk in P2000

Usually with HP servers the original spare will become the spare again once you have replaced the failed drive. So you'll see a second rebuild.
Is this different with HP san/nas hardware?

Yes.
On the msa over 1500 you need to do this. Also on the eva but you can specify a default disk group. Xp is warm swap. Lefthand or p4500 I don't know. But I Assume this is the same as in normal proliant like you said, as that's the underlying hardware.

Eva doesn't have spares. I meant for disk replacement :-)
