SNAP in XP12000

Hi Experts,
I’m new to XP12000 SAN box, my doubt is
What is SNAP
How to know that the left space in a vg is a SNAP copy
Is there any chance to increase the file system on the left space? if yes how can we
I came across this, as there is free PE in VG,we can extent a filesystem, but came to know that the space left out is a SNAP copies. (Virtual space)
