SUN D1000 disk array with HP9000 K-Series
hp-ux 11.11, 2x CPU K-series HP 9000 server
HP-UX hp B.11.11 U 9000/879 1245015321 unlimited-user license
Old D1000 SUN box.
All drives normally recognized by HP, but when I try to create volumes (eve just trying to create filesystem) causes permanent bus reset.
Anyone ever did this?
Please help!

Re: SUN D1000 disk array with HP9000 K-Series
What SCSI adapters are you using on your K_class? If I can recall correctly, you will need a HVD Differential SCSI HBA as well as Differential SCSI cables to hook up a D1000 to any server.

Re: SUN D1000 disk array with HP9000 K-Series
As I said earlier, disks visible normally and correctly from the server.
but when I try to create filessystem (or volume, does not matter it starts to reset SCSI permanently on this channel....
Should it be terminated?
As far as I remember, D1000 boxes are autoterminated......
Thanks for reply!

Re: SUN D1000 disk array with HP9000 K-Series
I think you will need a terminator as it is only the Sun boxes that auto-terminate. The standard HP terminator p/no. A1658-62024 is the part you will need. If you look from page 28 in that manual there is a diagram for connections and then a bit further on you have to set some switches on the back to say whether it is single bus or split bus.
hope this gets you a bit further

Re: SUN D1000 disk array with HP9000 K-Series
however, this all looks very strange.
It should not see disks normally on untermionated bus......
Anyway, thanks for the help!

All drives have unique ID.
