San Manager Host Agent

Hi,

Can someone give me explanation of what's San Manager Host Agent on HP UX ?
Is this product necessary with an XP512 ?
Can I remove this product ?

Thanks for help,
Jerome

Re: San Manager Host Agent

Jerome,

The SAN Manager host agent is the background daemon that allows communication with Command View XP. I believe this host agent is part of the Command View package and necessary for communication and remote management of the array.

Re: San Manager Host Agent

FYI... the host agent that comes with Command View is not required for operation of Command View (or an XP) - it merely provides some very useful information that is displayed in Command View.

Mostly, it supplies the host /dev/rdsk/c?t?d? to LDEV mapping that appears in CV. It's nice to have, but not required for operation of the array or hosts attached to it.

I would leave it in place, if it's not causing any trouble on your host.

Good luck!

Re: San Manager Host Agent

I have no clue...

If it's causing a problem, you should call in a service call.

Good luck,

Vince
