I have Eva 4400 2c1d with 12 400Gb disks
I want add drive enclosure with 12 1Tb disks
online without data loss and service loss, but one of the 400GB hard drive is failed, and one cache battery fail.
I have ordered failed hard drive and cache battery but the order will reach in 2 weeks.
Can I add drive enclosure just now,or i must replace failed hard disk and cache battery.

Solution
The disk and battery failures do not prevent you from adding a disk enclosure. If a disk failed, the controllers will have regenerated the mirror/parity data by now, so the RAIDs are fully redundant again. The battery failed only means that the controller it is connected to will not be handling any traffic.
As long as you follow the M6412 installation instructions, it can be done online. After connecting the new enclosure to one loop, check that the loop is stable and there are noo loop up/down events. The I/O modules on the M6412 have a very high tendency to reset and break the loop everytime you touch anything.
