Slow regular format on an EVA 6000 Vdisk. Quick format use?
A 240GB vdisk on an EVA 6000 takes about 8hr to format. Is this normal? It is been suggested to use a quick format but I do not have a very good filing about it. If there are problems I rather see them now than later on in production.
Any suggestions/comments will be appreciated.

Re: Slow regular format on an EVA 6000 Vdisk. Quick format use?
Hi Eugene,
The reason a regular format will take so long is that Windows will write to each block on the Vdisk, a quick format will just create the file system which much faster. There is no need as far as I know to use a regular format on a Vdisk, any Vdisks that I format under Windows is always a quick format and I had no issues yet :) You have to remember that the Vdisk is based on a raid set and the EVA controller will check for any issues on physical disk and if there is any problems with a physical disk it will be kicked out of the raid set/disk group.
