Smart Array 532 Controller

Hi All,

I have the following:
Proliant ML350 G3
1GB RAM
Compaq Smart Array 532 Controller
3 drives RAID configuration

I'm receiving the following error on my w2k server. Is there a utility that I can install without rebooting this server that will allow me to view the controller detail and latest status?

Compaq Drive Array Logical Drive Status Change. Logical drive number 1 on the array controller in slot 1 has a new status of 5.
(Logical Drive status values: 1=other, 2=ok, 3=failed, 4=unconfigured, 5=recovering, 6=readyForRebuild, 7=rebuilding, 8=wrongDrive, 9=badConnect, 10=overheating, 11=shutdown, 12=expanding, 13=notAvailable, 14=queuedForExpansion)
[SNMP TRAP: 3008 in CPQIDA.MIB]

Re: Smart Array 532 Controller

Hi,

You can use Array Configuration Utility (ACU) which is usually used with SA controllers. It has Web Interface as well besides CLI.

You can use Array Diagnostic Utility (ADU) for diagnostices , error messages interpretation.

Refer the ACU user huide at
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c00294139/c00294139.pdf

As far as the error is concerned , the logical drive is recovering , maybe a disk failure. Check it's status using ACU.

Re: Smart Array 532 Controller

Thanks,

The ADU did confirm a bad drive. Do you know if this controller supports the ability to hot swap the drive? It would be great to just plug in a new drive without shutting down this server.

Re: Smart Array 532 Controller

Hi again,

You can do hot swap as it is supported on this server.

Refer the Maintenance guide of Proliant ML350 G3 at
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/UCR/SupportManual/TPM_316336-002/TPM_316336-002.pdf
