Re: Storage Requirment of 3.4 PB

Hi,
it could be best based on XP24k:
http://h18006.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/12711_div/12711_div.pdf
max for 1 piece with 4 DKU racks
max. usable is 851TB
so you need 5 pieces of maximum configured XP24000

OR

(the comming EVA 8400 but the max of 324TBs raw space is with FATA (324x1TB FATA disks), with FC disks the current max is 324x450GB 14.9TB) so here you then need 11xEVA8400 with FATA drives or approximately 24xEVA8400 with FC drives :-))

OR
the reasonable combination of the XP24k e.g. for mission critical data and EVA8400 for other data

the pain is one part of the reality

errata, certainly EVA84k max FC 450GB drives configured raw space is aprox. 146TB

Re: Storage Requirment of 3.4 PB

please review the below requirment and suggest...

1- Application Servers = 3 ( One at each site )
2- Data Base Servers = 3 ( One at each Site )
3- Storage Servers = 3 ( One at each site )
4- Replica Servers = 3 ( One at each site )
5- Centralized Storage for all sites = 2 ( 1 Main / 1 Backup)

Records in GB =0.54 GB Per Min

3rd Server
Number of 50 Concurrent Users
Storage of data = 7 days data on server # 3 and Server # 4

Total number of minutes in day = 1440
Total Data in Day = 0.54 GB x 1440
=777.6 GB

Total Data in 7 Days =800(approx) x 7 = 5.4 TB Per Week Rounding it for 10 TB .

Server 4
Will be the replica server for 3 .

Server 1
Application Server

it will be requiring the storage of around 2 TB , with 2 QUAD processors and 16 GB Memory with RAID .

Centralized Storage Capacity
Data From 1 Site = 10 TB
Data From 3 Sites = 30 TB

Total Recordable data from 3 Sites = 30 Tb x 90(days)
= 2700 TB We will rounding it too to 3000 TB Space.

Storage 2
Storage at the DR Site will be the exact replica of storage 1 , all the data will be stored and mirrored for the back up purpose.

Re: Storage Requirment of 3.4 PB

Whilst it's fun to come up with these kkinds of solutions, I'm not sure a public forum is the best place to hammer this out - for that amount of storage I can't imagine why you'd roll your own design... I'm pretty sure you'll be able to persuade a local HP presales technical consultant to come up with a design for you - these guys do this all the time and likely know the capabilities of the storage systems a lot better than you will. I'd suggest you contact your local HP office (or reseller) for assistance on this.

Re: Storage Requirment of 3.4 PB

Do you need it for file servers either NFS or CIFS.. Polyseve cannnot do it in a single cluster file system but multiple are possible and it does not matter what disk arrays it uses.

It is supported on linux and windows
