Hi,
Could it be that you have 2 links to this array ? That would explain why you can still access the data ... you've only lost 1 link. You should be able to verify this by doing an vgdisplay -v of the volumegroups on the array.

From your syslog ...

I would check the connection to the FA15aB port on your symmetrix. It could be the HBA (in the Unix), the fibre, ... or any other component (port on accesshub, port on switch, port on director) you've got inbetween.

Regards,
Tom

A life ? Cool ! Where can I download one of those from ?

I think we will go to Symmetrix to check the issue first.

But i want to know the meaning of "killing" ? Is this action issued by OS or adminstrator?

emcp is the kernel module that is issuing the message, according to your syslog.

Correct me everyone (you always do!), but I'm pretty sure that's EMC's Power Path product, and what it's doing is disabling that path to the array because it got an error on a LUN on that path.

Good luck,

Vince

Re: The problem on hp9000 D270 & EMC symmetrix

You have reminded me, emcp should be emc powerpath kernel module. By issuing powermt display we can see some historical errors(just counts, not detailed events). However, it has been restored.

Thank you all.
