Unable to expand the vdisk!

Hello everybody!

I have HP P2000 SAS MSA with 2 controllers.

In this storage there are 12 LFF hard drives 1 TB each of them. Vdisk was configured to use all 12 hard drives RAID6. Yesterday one of the drives went into the status failovr, and i made clear disk metadata. After that, I'm trying to return the same disc back into the raid, but I get the message Unable to expand the vdisk. An invalid device was specified.

Please help me to solve this problem.

Thanks.

Have you considered the possibility that perhaps the disk is broken and needs to be replaced?

Checked logs?

Re: Unable to expand the vdisk!

I have 2 similar free disk and I tried them both, the same result.

Re: Unable to expand the vdisk!

How are you trying to return the disk into the array? By assigning it as a spare?

Re: Unable to expand the vdisk!

Tools->Expand Vdisk->click on disk checkbox->Expand Vdisk

Re: Unable to expand the vdisk!

OK, but if you have a broken disk perhaps you should take care of that before trying to expand the vdisk?

To start rebuild of the vdisk you need to assign the disk as a spare.
