Upgrade HP SAN (from VA7400 to EVA3000 etc)

We're planning to buy in a new SAN very soon.
Everything from hba's to switches are being replaced and it is going to run in a simple W2K3 environment.

Currently we have a VA7400 that we had all sorts of different problems with. Now, how is the EVA3000 doing? Pros/cons comparing to similar products in the same price range from other vendors ?

We have sold a number of this boxes and apart from some disk failures in the early days they just run. Some customers are very enthusiastic about this as they had bad experience from competitors products (call-home didn't work; firmware upgrades cause total loss of data - 60 hours restore...; competitor made promises, e.g. about multipath support that turned out to be false, ...).

Can you talk a bit about your problems with the VA?

Re: Upgrade HP SAN (from VA7400 to EVA3000 etc)

Corrupt data, both controllers (and caches) replaced on different occations. One of the options we bought the VA7400 for was because the autoRAID function that we now adays are recommended not to use anymore by HP because of the problems we had.

Now it works fine with new controllers and updated firmware's and running RAID1, but maintenance is very expensive so we reckon it better getting new stuff.
