I was wondering how to upgrade the diskfirmware in an MSA30 connected to an MS1500?
Running the Fimrware Maintenance CD on the host connected to the SAN and to the MSA don't seem to work. The discovery process seems to take ages.
Does a boot from the FW maintenance CD actually sees what's behind the switches?

Solution
You could try upgrading the HDD using FW maintenance CD, however you will be able to do this provided there is a MSG on MSA which reads like "85 BAD DRIVE FRMWARE BOX BAY "
SCSI hard drive firmware updates are performed from the bootable ProLiant Firmware Maintenance CD
and are required only when the above message is displayed on the MSA controller LCD panel. it needs to be done during maintenance window.
Thanks

Re: Upgrade disk firmware MSA1500
Thx for the reply.
2 of our 14 disks installed in the MSA30 do need a FW update even without the fact that the controller is reporting it.
We even can visually see that these 2 disks are behaving different from the others. The LED's on the front are constanly burning as if they receive all the I/0's.
So, boot from FW CD actually sees the MSA1500. Great!
