Re: Usable Space in EVA

Yes, you can. The EVA4000 did support 300GB disk drives since day one
(I have just checked version 1 of the specifications from May 2005).

Re: Usable Space in EVA

Sorry, missed the 15k - I was just thinking about the ability to deal with 300GB disks.
Is your EVA still at that old XCS firmware level?

Re: Usable Space in EVA

Hello,

300 GB 15K rpm dual-port 2/4 Gb/s FC-AL 1-inch drive AG425A

The 300GB/15k drives aren't listed in the quickspecs of a EVA4000, but they should work, also the 450 GB FC drives.

You should be sure that you're running XCS 6.110.

Best regards,
Patrick

Re: Usable Space in EVA

HP switched to an EVA-common specification file in February 2006. After that, but within 2006, support for 300GB 15kRPM disk drives became available.
I agree with Patrick that you should run with a current XCS release anyway.

Re: Usable Space in EVA

Usable and formated size are (as showed in CV-EVA)
279G*8 for the disk group=~2232G
A sigle protection will take 2*279G=~558G
You then have:~1674G
Raid 0 will take n * 1 of space
Raid 1 will take n * 2 of space
Raid 5 will take n * 1.25 of space
Thanks
