minor=113000
forceminor=off
minor=-1
minor=-1
minor=-1
minor=-1

vxprint -g post_master15k_dg -mpvsh ACCHEAD_2002|grep minor
root@olap # vxprint -g post_master15k_dg -mpvsh ACCHEAD_2002|grep minor
minor=113003
forceminor=off
minor=-1
minor=-1

ON Production server:

root@sp6800a # grep vxio /etc/name_to_major
vxio 265

root@sp6800a # vxprint -g post_master15k_dg -mpvsh SYSTEM|grep minor
minor=113000
forceminor=off
minor=-1
minor=-1
minor=-1
minor=-1
root@sp6800a # vxprint -g post_master15k_dg -mpvsh ACCHEAD_2002|grep minor
minor=113003

minor=-1

Minor numbers are same on both the servers for all hte other volumes( more then 100) in the DG.

Re: V-5-1-663 Duplicate virtual device number(s): issue

sounts like a Minor numbers problem,
are you importing a vg on a other name?

check het minor number that you are importing and see if
ll /dev/* |grep "minor numbre"
is giving a response....

Re: V-5-1-663 Duplicate virtual device number(s): issue

the error message is from VxVM not from Solaris.

minor numbers of all the other non conflicting volumes under the same DG are also same on both backup and production server.
