VA 7400 - Not Enough Drives

Hello,

I have an HP Surestore Virtual Array VA 7400 I am attempting to configure using the Virtual Front Panel commands. When I power on the array, it is constantly in a Warning State but the individual components report Good/Ready. I am able to set the controller port behavior, the port data rate, port topology, loop ID, and RAID level. However, when I format the array using the fmt command, I receive a Not Enough Drives prompt. Please see below for the sytax used.

Warning State > fmt

If anyone could help me clear the Warning State and format the array successfully, I would greatly appreciate it! Thank you!

Cheers!
Dave

Re: VA 7400 - Not Enough Drives

"Not Enough Drives " during the format is normal.

What is the warning about?

Run

# dsp -s

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: VA 7400 - Not Enough Drives

remember to follow the correct power on sequence...jbod disk trays first & leave on for two minutes before powering on the controller disk tray..see if that helps

Re: VA 7400 - Not Enough Drives

Torsten - All drives and controllers report included/ready. The controller link is down as I've not connected it to the host yet.

Brian - We've only got one VA 7400 disk array.

Thank you for your assistance!

Cheers!

Re: VA 7400 - Not Enough Drives

hi,

How many drives do you have installed?

have you got the minimum required? think it 4 drives from memory. and do they show as all online?
