Just add the second. From now on it depends if the array is direct connected or over a switch. You need to add the alternate pathes to your config from the server point of view.

I'm assuming that once the second controller is in place, unix will install the necessary device files. From then, I would have to do a vgextend - to configure the new device file to the existing volume group?
