VA7100 Command View SDM

I have a hardware support contract on our VA7100 and I am trying to get the latest version of Command view SDM through SUM. Apparently I need to add Command View SDM to our software support contract to enable this to happen. What product # do I tell them to add to the software support contract? I was under the impression that in the past the Commnad View SDM was supported via the hardware contact. Apparently this has changed and I am at a lost as to how to get the most current version of the software. Can someone please point me in the right direction?

Re: VA7100 Command View SDM

James,
try these docs http://www.hp.com/products1/storage/products/disk_arrays/modular/commandview/infolibrary/index.html . I think you can simply tell HP people to include it in contract - they know CV's product number :o)

Re: VA7100 Command View SDM

James:
The service of upgrading your firmware and Command View should be included in your Virtual Array Warranty. I don't believe you need a service contract specifically for that. I am attaching a letter from HP to VA7100 and VA7400 customers.
Try the following websites for downloads and documentation:

Re: VA7100 Command View SDM

CommandView SDM is P/N T1001A.

It appears under "Independent Releases" in SUM. First go to "Order Software Updates", then scroll down to "All Independent Releases", and it should appear under there.

You should be able to either download it or have a disc delivered.

If your VA is under a year old, it should be covered under warranty. Depending on where you are and how you bought your VA, it may have a longer warranty. If you are out of warranty, and as you say, don't have a support contract, add T1001A to your contract. (I would be surprised if you have hardware support and no software support - so you should check to be sure you're covered for the hardware, too!)

Be aware that some CV SDM versions require certain minimum revisions of firmware on the array, so you may need to upgrade the FW on your VA as well. If you do need to upgrade FW, I highly suggest having an HP CE do it for you. See the readme file with the CV SDM for details.

Good luck!

Re: VA7100 Command View SDM

I believe I have HP sending me the necessary paperwork to add the Command View SDM software to our Support Agreement and I did double check that the hardware was already 24x7x365 4hr sopport. Thanks all for the help.
