Greetings,
This morning we woke up to several CommandView messages indicating we have a problem with one of the controllers in our VA7100. This 7100 is in another country and we need to provide some guidance to our management as to what is the best course of action. My initial question is, is the controller 'hot swapable' while the other controller is working?
Probably more questions to follow concerning firmware, wwn's, lun security, etc...

Solution
Chuck,
yes,
if you have two controllers (I think in the beginning there were also single controller configs) and
if your OS supports alternate pathing (HP-UX LVM, AutoPath for Windows) and you have setup alternate paths to all the LUNs on all machines accessing them,
then you can change the controller online.
Regards,
Bernhard

Re: VA7100 Controller replacement
Bernhard,
The original messages were LVM failures, from OpenView. We are on HP-UX 11.00. We are on our alternate links so it sounds like we are ok.
Thanks for such a quick response.
