VA7100 Information

Hello,
I have VA7100 with 4 disks (36 Gb 15 Rpm), can I insert another 4 disk but with 73 Gb of capacity and 15 Rpm?

Thanks For your help

Hi Filo,

You can mix disk capacity into an VA array.

Re: VA7100 Information

Filo,
I would add the following: please check that firmware revision is the latest (HP18 for dual controller and SC01 for single controller version). Insert disks, wait for balancing to complete, and then create new LUNs in order for all LUN allocated space to be more than 50% of all available space (see 'armdsp -a' output). If you'll not do it, then after expanding VA may proceed with read-modify-write RAID5DP procedure instead of log-like writes and perfomance may be impacted
