VA7100 configuration problem !!!

Hi ,

We have VA7100 array connected rp5470 server, through ioscan all the array disks are shown as claimed. But when "armdsp -i" is executed it doesn't show any output. Even armdiscover also doesn't recognize the array.

When armfmt is tried it gives "invalid array id" error message. Even in the stm also it gives the same above error message.

Any suggestions/solutions......

Thanks
Venky

Hi Venky,

which steps did you execute before?

Re: VA7100 configuration problem !!!

Venky,

Try starting and stopping the HAtrigger and the dialdtrigger then restarting them. That should refresh the connection. If it's possible, a reboot will accomplish the same thing.

Re: VA7100 configuration problem !!!

Following steps were executed :-

1. Two Fibre cables were connected to brocade switch from CPU and 2 cables were connected from VA7100 dual controller to brocade switch.
2. Using vfpfmt the array disks were formatted and then initialized again. It gave status as ready.
3. Then from the OS side , tried using "armdsp -i" but it gave no output.
4. Stopped and then started hostagent.
5. Tried using armdiscover but it recognises only internal disks.
6. ioscan shows all the array disks as claimed.

Thanks

Re: VA7100 configuration problem !!!

Venky,

In order for the array to be recognized, you will need to set up the array with LUN 0. This is typically set to 10MB in size. You should have the instructions for the VFP (Virtual Front Panel) that came with the array. This will give you step by step instructions on how to create LUN 0 and prep the array. If not you should be able to locate them on the HP web.
