VA7110 question

Hi,

Does anyone kow if a VA7110
with two controllers do
load balancing between them?
We have an VA7100 and it doesn't do this, the second controller is only for failover.

Is there any performance difference between a VA7110 and a VA7410? According to some specs I found they look the same in that regard??

Hello, as the VA7110 has one redundancy group (same as 7100), there is no load balancing at the controller level, all data coming in C2 are passed to C1 for processing. Yes, there is performance difference between 7110 and 7410 (that is why HP has two models), as the 7410 does load balancing, has two redundancy groups and I believe also a faster proc inside. I agree with Vladimir. VA7110 has only one RG, and all disks are within this RG, and perfomance path for LUNs created within this RG is controller 1. If controller 1 is alive and you try to access data using controller 2 then controller 2 will transfer requests to controller 1. So C2 is only for failover.
VA7410 has more powerful controllers, and each controller contains equitable FC host ports. VA7410 has two RGs, RG1 and RG2, and perfomance paths for LUNs created within RG1 is through C1 and for LUNs within RG2 through C2. So with VA7410 you have an ability to 'load balance' disks between RGs and thus 'load balance' throughtout between C1 and C2.
In addition, VA7110 can have only 45 disks max, but VA7410 can have 105 disks
