VA7400 disk rebuild time

I have a VA7400, firmware rev. HP19, with sixty 73 GB disks in it. A disk failed last week. The array took 22 hours and 45 minutes to rebuild. I was wondering what rebuild times others may have experienced? Is this about normal?

Thanks,
Marlou

Re: VA7400 disk rebuild time

I think it depends entirely on 1) How busy the array is and how much time it can dedicate to the rebuild, 2) What your rebuild priority is set to. The lower the priority, the longer the rebuild time.

If you have a very busy array, with rebuild priority set to low, that amount of time would not surprise me for a 73GB disk.

Re: VA7400 disk rebuild time

Patrick,

Thanks for your reply. As usual in our line of business, it depends on many factors. I was told to ask the question so I did. Perhaps the lack of response means that very few rebuilds occur! Still beats having to recover lost data.
