VA7400 error reporting

We have a VA7400 with LUNs on to a NAS8000. A disk on the VA7400 failed and
the VA began a rebuild. The NAS8000 logs show:
hpn: (2) hpArrayMond: Array 'HP:A6189A:00SG2222J0189' is reporting a warning
+condition.
SCSI disk error: host 9 channel 0 id 1 lun 11 return code = 70022

Why does the VA7400 report to the NAS8000 that a LUN has failed? I
thought the VA7400 was supposed to take charge of the disk failure and
NOT report it forwards as a LUN error to the connected host. Is there
a fix for this ?
