VA7410 partition

Can one VA7410 be partitioned in two so that two independent servers can access their own partition on the array?

Re: VA7410 partition

I think the VA calls it LUN security and it is an add-on software license. Check the installation guide
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/lpg60188/lpg60188.pdf?jumpid=reg_R1002_USEN
and search for references to it. A short description of the sw is below but given that the VAs are no longer selling, I don't know if you can still get it. http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&taskId=120&prodSeriesId=64122&prodTypeId=12169&objectID=lpg64071

Re: VA7410 partition

For this reason the secure manager was used. It works (more or less) just like the presentation in EVA's.

The problem is, it was an add-on, but I think you cannot get it any longer.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: VA7410 partition

Hi Jesse,

Yes it can. As a matter of fact, that is kind of the purpose of an array - to serve LUNS to dozens or hundreds of hosts. As the prior person stated, you use a feature of all disk arrays called LUN Masking (this array calls it Secure LUN Manager), to allow only one host to access the LUNs you specify with the software.
