VCS 4.001 Cable connection
Cable connection like
controllerA FP1 -->sw1(port1); FP2 -->SW2(port1)
ControllerB FP1 --->sw1(port2); FP2-->SW2(port2).
Is it right?

Re: VCS 4.001 Cable connection
The FP1 on both controllers should go to your "A Fabric" switch(es) and the FP2 should go to your "B Fabric" switch(es).
You have it correct.
I believe there is a serious issue with 4.001 which HP has acknowledged in some way, form or fashion. Going to 4.004 is probably mandatory for "full support" but if you want to lose your data... 4.001 is probably just fine ;o)

Re: VCS 4.001 Cable connection
The cable connection is correct as confirmed by steven already.
I have heard a lot about problems in VCS4.001. The VCS 4.004 was released within a short time of VCS 4.001 release. That gives a suspicion about the stability of VCS 4.001.
It will be a good practice to review the release notes of VCS 4.004 to understand the enhancements.
Check the fixes given the release notes on page 4 of the document, access the document at ,

Re: VCS 4.001 Cable connection
this is the extract from the same release notes,
---------------------------------------------
The VCS v4.004 system software for the EVA3000/5000 includes resolution to some issues that were found after the release of v4.001. HP recommends that you upgrade to VCS v4.004 if you are currently running VCS v4.001. To upgrade to VCS v4.004, a copy of the system software is provided on the
CD-ROM in the HP StorageWorks EVA3000/5000 Series v4.0 Controller Media Kit.
---------------------------------------------
To me, this means the VCS 4.004 is mandatory.
With regards,
Mohan.
