We have recently bought 2100 disk array with 3 x 36G drives

wish to configure it in a RAID-3 configuration.

What do it need to configure ?

The rp5430 system came with a PCI controller ( not sure what type) which has 4 LVD/SE ports on it. When I connect the 2100 array to one of the port, I could not see any disks. DO I need any RAID SW /Drives etc ?

Hello,

Make sure you have the I20 RAID software installed. Do a:

swlist -l product | grep I20

If it is installed, type "irm" to start configuring your LUNs.

SureStore Disk System 2100 is not a disk array, it's a JBOD (just a bunch of disks). You will be able creating mirrors using hpux MirrorDisk/UX. Please consult manual if you set up JBOD id switch. These disks are independent disks and should appear in ioscan as different targets. Connect JBOD and attach 'ioscan -fn' to your next reply

Hello,

The ds2100 is connected to a PCI RAID controller. Since it has 4 ports, I assume it is a 4Si card. You can connect JBODs to Raid controllers and do RAID on it.

The 4si card supports RAID 3.

Hmm so it is a 4si PCI RAID controller.

We reinstalled the OS from CD. Do we have to add any driver or any SW seprately ?

Why the disks are not showing ? will show only after raid ( lun) configuration ? ANy doc link will be of great help
