We have the need for more performance from our EVA8000 and I am wondering what parts are needed to improve throughput of an EVA8000.

Re: What does it take to upgrade my EVA8000 to an EVA8100?
For the cost its probably not worth it..
Any other suggestions or ideas? How do you know if you HAVE to upgrade your loop switches, I/O modules, etc?

Re: What does it take to upgrade my EVA8000 to an EVA8100?
The pure controller performance increases are:
- random 210'000 IOPS to 225'000 IOPS
- sequential 1600 MB/s to 2450 MB/s
However, the real life performance depends on the backend and thus mainly on the number of installed disks!! And the backend performance does not differ much!
Cheers
Pete

Re: What does it take to upgrade my EVA8000 to an EVA8100?
'bandwidth', not 'throughput'.
If it were '4GigaBit throughput' it would mean the 8100 is twice as powerfull. As Pete wrote, that's unfortunately not the case.
