Re: Windows server 2016 drive extension

Windows server 2016 drive extension

I installed a P441 Smart Arrray in my Proliant DL380 Gen 9 server and connected it to a D3600 with (12) 10 TB LFF drives. I used the Smart Storage Administrator to configure the D3600 as a Raid 6 logical partition. That all worked fine. We DID not purchase the backup battery for the cache. Once I started the server back up I went in to disk management and this is what I see.

after drive cage install 06102021.PNGYou can see disk 2 but why the 2 TB and 9 TB unallocated drives? Shouldnt there be just one 11 TB unallocated drive? What did I do wrong?

Thanks

Hello,

Please follow the below link.

Windows support for hard disks that are larger than 2 TB
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/troubleshoot/windows-server/backup-and-storage/support-for-hard-disks-exceeding-2-tb

I would suggest you contact to Microsoft, if the issue still persist.
