We have this scenario:
EVA4000 running XCS 5100 and managed with CV 6, our plan is to upgrade to XCS 6220 and CV9, but the docs don't clearly show a direct upgrade path, seems like XCS 6110 is needed as an intermediate version. In contrast, the EVA Compatibility Reference pdf shows that it is possible to do an online upgrade from 5100 to 6220. Disk firmware will be also updated.
Here are our concerns:
1. Can't find XCS 6110, in the SW Depot or in the Forums, please any links?
2. Any prior experiences and comments with a direct 5100 -> 6220 XCS upgrade?
SAN switches will be also updated to the latest version (Brocade 6.2.0). Command View licenses are also upgraded to the new format.
Additionally, the Command View 9 server will also manage a newer EVA4400.
Thanks in advance for any insight,
Best regards,
Albatross

Re: XCS 5100 Upgrade to 6220 and Command View
The release ntoe for XCS 6200 state quite clearly that you need to go from 5100 to 6110 before going to 6200.
I wouldn't have thought that 6220 would be any different...
XCS 6110 used to be available from the software depot, but it looks like it's now been removed. There's probably a copy somewhere on ftp.hp.com but finding it could be fun !
Hope this helps,
Regards,
Rob

Re: XCS 5100 Upgrade to 6220 and Command View
Looking at the latest Compatibility Reference:
http://bizsupport2.austin.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c01858971/c01858971.pdf
Table 3.1 on page 10, also shows that you need to go to XCS 6.1xx before moving to XCS 6.2xx.
Cheers,
Rob

Re: XCS 5100 Upgrade to 6220 and Command View
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software8/COL19049/co-49348-1/XCS6100.zip
This should be OK to allow you to then go up to 6220.
Good luck !

10014 is the firmware, 10015 is the documentation.
Note that I'm not sure on the "legality" of posting these to the web. They used to be freely available from HP, so I wouldn't have thought there'd be an issue, but if they disappear, it's probably because I've been asked to remove them...
Cheers,

Re: XCS 5100 Upgrade to 6220 and Command View
I'm so thankful with your help, it is **vastly** appreciated. Of course, points will be assigned!
One little question, do you think I'll face any problems with the Command View 6 version during the XCS upgrade?
Thanks a lot,
Albatross

Re: XCS 5100 Upgrade to 6220 and Command View
What specific version of CV EVA are you using ? As long as it's 6.0.2 you should be OK.
If not, then upgrade to CV EVA 6.0.2 first, then upgrade XCS to 6110.
I think you should then upgrade CV EVA to 9.1 before upgrading XCS to 6220 - just check in the various release notes. Personally I've never used CV EVA higher than 6...
If you do need it, CV EVA 6.0.2 looks to be here:
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software8/COL17042/co-46715-1/T3724-10502CVEVA_6_0_2.zip

Re: XCS 5100 Upgrade to 6220 and Command View
Currently we are running CV EVA 5 (!) but 6.0.2 has just finished downloading, thanks.
The administration server will be completely reinstalled, and we will use CV EVA 6.0.2 for the XCS 5100 --> 6110 --> 6220 upgrade round. After that we will install CV EVA 8.0.2 and then add our EVA4400, which will be updated from 09004000 to 09522000. Finally we will install CV EVA 9.1.
Does it sound like a plan?
A.

Re: XCS 5100 Upgrade to 6220 and Command View
I can't remember if that copy of 6.0.2 was a complete version or just an upgrade package... You might have to have 6.0.0 to allow it to install.

Rob

I think I need to start a web page with all these download locations !
Cheers,
