XP pairs in PSUE

Hi,
We had a problem with our ISL between our two XP's over the weekend, when it came back up some of our CA pair's are still in PSUE status. From what I can remember it is just a case of doing a pair resysnc, is this correct? Also I would have expected both sides to be in PSUE but it looks like only the Pvol's are in PSUE, is this normal?
thanks

Re: XP pairs in PSUE

@DJMC

Depending in the issues happened, the status can unfortunately be individual on both XPs. Under normal circumstances, both sides should show the same status primary: PSUE(rror), secondary: SSUE(rror). But which fault is normal?

I have seen almost every possible or impossible status combination. But equal for all of them is, as long as you don't have normal suspend status PSUS/SSUS, you unfortunately have to split them completely and recreate the pairs.

In many case only some of the pairs do show this error status, than it is normally enough to fully recreate them. For the others you can do the pairresync operation. If you have defined a consistency group, you have to do a fully recreate for the whole group.

Re: XP pairs in PSUE

Where are you seeing the errors from? "pairdislay"? You may want to check it from SVP as well. Some old RAID-Manager had this issue of not showing the status correctly.

Regardless, you are correct that you need to resync the PVOL-SVOL pairs. And if in anycase it goes wrong then you need to troubleshoot further and final option would be to re-create the pairs.

Good luck and post us the results..

Re: XP pairs in PSUE

Raid Manager XP does only show the wrong status if it is not called in the right mode, BC or CA, for the equivalent pair.

Hopefully nobody does operate an old RM version with an XP array still under warranty or service contract. To update the RM binaries is a have to for all my colleagues and me.

Using a GUI is not a solution.
