Re: XP256

The XP256 uses 36GB-Disks.
Does it run okay if 36GB- Disk and 72GB-Disk all used?

Re: XP256

There are 8 HDUs (Hard Disk Unit) in a DKU which range from 0 to 7.
The 1st DKU is R1 and there are 8 drive slots per HDU.
Slot 3 in HDU 0,1,2 and 3 of R1 and L1 reserved for a hot spare so there will be 15 marketing groups in the 1st DKU.

Let's look at a marketing group with 73 Gig disk drives populated, bound as RAID5 and emulated as OPEN-E for the best capacity allocation.
Per a marketing group, there exist 15 LDEVs
and the size per LDEV is 13.888 Giga.

13.888 * 15 ( No of LDEVs in a marketig group ) * 15 ( No of marketing group in R1) = 3,124.8 Giga.

To accomodate 73Giga disk drives, you have to sustain Microcode to 52.47.52.00/00 or greater and check to see if the array has sufficient amount of both cache and shared memory before adding 73 giga disk drives to.

If you placed an order from HP sales for adding 73 giga drives, they'll consider the amount of cache and shared memory for you and HP support will think about microcode before upgrade as well.

Hope this helps,

Re: XP256

For the arrray with 72Giga disk drives bound as RAID 1,

13.888 * 10 ( No of LDEVs in a marketig group ) * 15 ( No of marketing group in R1) = 2083.2 Giga.

Happy new year.
