Hello Richard,
The list of supported adapters as well as things such as BIOS and firmware continually changes. For example at this point we support, amongst others, the Emulex LP8000, LP9002 and LP952 with specific firmware tested in combination with the XP 512. Whether or not a particular HBA is appropriate in your situation, depends on a lot of factors. For example the port host mode on the XP 512 must match the adapter type, or the HBA may need to be supported in combination with Auto Path or Secure Path.
Since connectivity with XP storage is a complex subject with lot's of pitfalls, I would recommend you contact your HP storage support contact for more detailed information regarding this.
