adding harddisk to VA7410

I would like to add more harddisk in our VA7410 because I would like to increase a filesystem. If I would like to increase 100GB of extra space then how many harddisk should I add in the enclosure. Currenty we have 36GB harddisk.

Could someone please help me.

thanks.

Re: adding harddisk to VA7410

Hello

LVM Mirroring (strict) = 6 disk (2*100gb / 36gb)
Not mirrored = 3 disks (100gb / 36gb)

Have I understood your question correctly ?

Re: adding harddisk to VA7410

Thanks, I think we are not using LVM mirroring.

Follow up question, is it possible to just add three harddisk or do I need to follow a rule like add harddisk two at a time?

Re: adding harddisk to VA7410

It depends if you are using RAID 5DP or AUTORAID. Also, there are two redundancy groups in the VA7410, so when you add drives, you need to consider whether you are adding some to each or only one. Get your HP Solutions Architect to help you with this issue. If you add a different size, then you need at least two drives to get the full space. Also, there is always some file system overhead, so you will always get less than you think.
