array group

Hi,

is there any way to have in XP24k an array group of 10 disks configured for raid 10?

best regards,

Re: array group

Hi,
These configs are "physicaly" supported only for RAID10 on XPs (XP24k included):
2D+2D (4 physical disks) and 4D+4D (8 physical disks).
the pain is one part of the reality

Re: array group

You could use LUSE to aggregate multiple 2+2 group LDEVs. On the XP24K with the optional Thin Provisioning you could have pools of 2+2 groups LDEVs in a pool to help provide an automatic stripe and mirror approach. You can do 100% allocation so you don't have to worry about it being "Thin".

Re: array group

Prior to implementing LUSE you should be aware that it is a concatenation and not a stripe. So performance id not great under certain conditions.

Also, I would highly recommend RAID10 4+4 instead of 2+2. Theoretical performance for a single LDEV/LUN on 4+4 is 2 times better than that of 2+2. The XP24K supports both, but most choose to implement 4+4.
