battery-backed write cache Question

Greetings,

One of our Proliant DL360 G5 has 2 disks but the RAID configuration is RAID 0 (1 disk unused).

We have bought a battery-backed write cache (BBWC) for the Smart Array E200i controller in order to migrate RAID 0 to RAID 1+0 without downtime.

This is the question:

We have tested successfully the RAID migration in a spare server and now we want to do it in the production one.

Is there any kind of problem changing the BBWC from one server to another? Will there be any data in the BBWC that can generate problems in the production server? Do we need to wait until the BBWC is discharged?

Thanks in advance.
Regards

Re: battery-backed write cache Question

Hey,

Do a controlled shut down of the server you want to take the BBWC from. During that shut down it will write any unwritten data in cache to the disks.

Don't forget to check the firmware levels are good(same?) on the servers and E200.
