cannot mount advfs disk on Alpha ES40

After overheating crash I cannot mount one of two SCSI disk arrays (non-system) on Alpha ES40 server running UNIX True64. System gives me an error: "BAD FILE NUMBER". What number?

My best gues would be: 42

But why dont you give us a little more information, a cut and paste of the screen output of what yer doing, would do just fine.

Re: cannot mount advfs disk on Alpha ES40

It looks like something is wrong with LSM:

# voldisk list
DEVICE TYPE DISK GROUP STATUS
rz16 sliced disk01 rootdg online
rz17 sliced disk02 rootdg online
rz18 sliced disk03 rootdg online
rz19 sliced disk04 rootdg online
rz20 sliced disk05 rootdg online
rz21 sliced disk06 rootdg online
rz22 sliced disk07 rootdg online
rz24 sliced disk08 lib2dg online
rz25 sliced disk09 lib2dg online
rz26 sliced disk10 lib2dg online
rz27 sliced - - error
rz28 sliced disk12 lib2dg online
rz29 sliced disk13 lib2dg online
rz30 sliced disk14 lib2dg online
- - disk11 lib2dg failed was:rz27

Any suggessions?

Re: cannot mount advfs disk on Alpha ES40

One of yer disks has failed, because of this the volume won't become online. As the volume isn't online, it can't be mounted.
The "BAD FILE NUMBER" is an error message which means (most of the time) that you are using an invalid device name/file.

Try rebuilding your LSM volume and restore the lost data from tape.
