expand array

I've received contradictory information as to whether I can replace (3) 9 gb drives in a RAID5 setup with (3) 18 gb drives. The server doesnt have enough bays to add another array, so I want to replace the drives with bigger ones. There is no battery-cache on my Smart 221, so I want to bring down the machine, and replace each drive one ata time, letting the array rebuild after each one. Will I see and be able to configure this free space without destroying the existing info on the array? Thanks

Re: expand array

You can swap the drives out with larger drives - one at a time as you said... Refer to the User's Guide for details (attached).

Re: expand array

I just did this sort of job the other day.
Had a proliant 1200 with 3 x 4GB drives off a 2SL controller.
Replaced each drive at a giving the system time to reconstruct the raid.
After this loaded cpqonlin and configured the free space as another logical drive, added another netware partition and voila.
All with no downtime to the customer.
