i have a raid 0+1 with 2 harddisks.
Now i bought another 2 harddisks with the same size. i want to expand the logical drive to have more resources. what i have to do ???
must i delete the mirror first ???
when i use the express wizard in acu to expand the array they will create a new logical drive but i dont want a new one. Or should i use the configuration wizard to expand the array ? when i use the configuration wizard they appears an dialog wheere i can add two disks to the existing array and they show me a container with free space below the logical drive.. is this the right step ??
Thanx for help..
Rene
p.s. i use a proliant dl380g3 with smartarray 5i and acu 7.15

SolutionIf you go into the ACU and click on your array, on the right hand side, a menu should appear. The option to expand the array should be there at that point. Click the expand link and select your new drives. Expansion can take a while if there is alot of data to move.

Re: expand raid 0+1
If you want to expand your C: partition, diskpart.exe will NOT work.
If you have a data drive, or partition, diskpart.exe shouod work..
Microsoft has a decent article on theusage of diskpart.exe.

Re: expand raid 0+1
all works fine now.
The logical drive is extendet and no problems occured.
The only thing i have to do was to update the array firmware and driver.
After that i expandet my logical drive in the acu and then with diskpart.
Thx Rene
