hp virtual storage array 7100
Due to down rev (HP18) of fw on controllers, a partial (soft) reset of the controller needs to be done to replace a drive and have it recognized and reconfigured into the lun. Can this be done without a shutdown? There is no terminal on the controller's rs232 port and I am told a power cycle would have to be done to have the terminal activated. So the reset would have to be done in sanmgr. Any advise as to which command accomplishes the soft reset?

Re: hp virtual storage array 7100
Hi Tom,
The command to use is "armmgr -R {full | partial} ArrayId"
Launch it from the node hosting the commandview SDM software.
You could reset the array with two option
{full | partial}
here is the description
-R [full|partial]
Perform either a full or partial reset of the array. If no parameter is supplied, a full reset is performed. Full reset can be used to reset the array in environments where the Fibre Channel Target Reset task management function is not possible. A full reset should also be used when the array is in an unknown state. A full reset includes memory tests.
Partial reset can be used to reset the array in environments where the Fibre Channel Target Reset task management function is not possible. A partial reset does not include memory tests.
