low performance on SA P400 FW 4.06 under W2003strd
experience very slow performance on SA P400 inside ML570G5 running W2003 server standard 32 bit engl. FW is 4.06. Controller connected to 18 SATA disks 146 GB, 3 logical drives, two logical drives share two disks as RAID 1, largest logical 14 disks as raid six. All disks are the same, 146 GB SATA 10.000RPM..
Any suggestions? Thanks Klaus

Re: low performance on SA P400 FW 4.06 under W2003strd
are you sure that you're using SATA disks? Your setup sounds like using SAS disks.
Do you have a BBWC installed? Can you specify "slow performance"? When do you face those problems?

Patrick

Re: low performance on SA P400 FW 4.06 under W2003strd
you are absolute correct I messed up. The ML570 G5 holds only 2,5" 146 GB 10.000RPM SAS disks, there is no SATA in that box at all. Sorry.
The fourteen times 146 GB under RAID 6 is set as one logical disk and one volume under W2003 strd. 32 bit. The main purpose is file sharing where about 15 GB is "hovered" around from and to other ~25 connected workstations (HP XW4400 and XW 4600). Sometimes, even connected on the server, it appears like this server is frozen, does not act on opening a folder for 30 sec to 1 min (feels even longer). This happens very often in main use hours.
Any idea? with best regards Klaus

Re: low performance on SA P400 FW 4.06 under W2003strd
I would recommend a firmwareupdate. The latest version is 7.22. I would also update the driver to the latest version.
Check this link for the ressources:

There were some fixes regarding bad performance under heavy load.

Patrick
