mixing different RPM

Is there any one out there successfully mixed different RPM disk(s) to the same HP SureStore E Disk Array FC60? Thanks.

Re: mixing different RPM

Hi,

Although I don't have this particular unit,
we have had mixed 10 and 15 thousand disks in
an EMC unit, whilst waiting for a replacement(s)to arrive. We did not suffer at all during this period.

Re: mixing different RPM

I have also seen 7200 and 10k rpm drives in the AutoRAID arrays with no problems.

No problem. RPM are not controled by anybody.

Re: mixing different RPM

I won't put them in the same lun or you could see bottlenecks on that lun.

However, physically and mechanicallay and logically there is no problem.

Re: mixing different RPM

With HP AutoRAID, individual disk modules with different RPM and capacity can be mixed and matched within the disk array.
It's clearly documented in the AutoRAID manual.

On the contrary, In the FC60 ordering guide, all disk spindles in the disk enclosures must have identical disk capacity & RPM.

Hope this helps,
