need help! destroying a drive using a hsz70 controller

me and my boss can not find a way to just destroy all of the data on a drive, we have been experimenting with the installation of true64 unix because he has to go and install it on another companies server next week, and we cannot find a way to just destroy all of the data once we get done with it. the destroy command is completely screwed up for us, and we cant get it to do anything, please help

thanks in advance

Re: need help! destroying a drive using a hsz70 controller

Use the delete unit, delete raidset/mirrorset commands at the HSZ prompt.

Or you can use the initialize command.

Re: need help! destroying a drive using a hsz70 controller

Deleting the unit and then deleting the raidset/mirrorset/jbod will NOT erase the disks. I suggest you use the disk exerciser to destroy the data on the disk. We haven't had a HSZ70 here for awhile but I thing the program is called dilx. At the console type 'dir' and you should see it. Run dilx and answer the prompts.

thank you, it seems that our dilx is not working for some reason, it cannot find the unit it says

joe,

Did you delete the unit before running dilx? If so, re-add the unit and try again.

I'm trying to follow - do You just want the physical disks wiped?

if yes - i can offer some possibilities from
dd to scsi low-level formats :)

... all required is a freebsd boot iso and a qlogic hba.

dd the disks with seven different random patterns. That should do it.

The units must be online to the controller where you are runnig DILX - or you must run DILX on the controller where the units are online ;-)
