nike array disk configuration

HI

We have server connected to HP NIKE 20 ARRAY.
It simply hangs when we try to use pvcreate/diskinfo on the disks that were replaced.

Is this array got its own administration commands..? If yes, please let me have the documents/procedure for configuring the disks.

Points will be allotted

Thanks in Advance

Re: nike array disk configuration

Hi Shankar,

Check if you have HARRAYMON running :
ps -ef|grep HARAYMON; if you don't have that process running. Alternatively, you can connect a serial cable to the Storage Processor and have the Grid Manager menu to administer the nike array storage.

Re: nike array disk configuration

Check the status of the array with "stm" or better with gridmanager (connect via serial line).

see also

http://docs.hp.com/en/diag/stm/help/expert/scsi_nikex.htm?jumpid=reg_R1002_USEN

or search the website for the "scsi nike array"

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: nike array disk configuration

Thanks a lot for ur reply.

When checked in the server,i could find below process

ps -ef|grep -i har
root 1469 1465 0 Jul 15 ? 0:00 pharaymon_exec
root 458 406 1 22:25:25 ttypa 0:00 grep -i har

When i try to start expert tool via cstm it says expert tool is disabled.

How to enable the tool so that i can use the new replaced disk..?

Points will be allotted.

Thanks,

Re: nike array disk configuration

I would suggest to go through the documentation given at the following web site. Ensure you are using compatible disk modules and check their status using GridManager as mentioned in the user guide.

Re: nike array disk configuration

The expert tool is password protected.
Use the gridmanager!

Did you replace only 1 disk?

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: nike array disk configuration

If the disk is part of a RAID, no action should be necessary. Anyway, cstm info tool should give you some information about the status.
But consider to use the gridmanager.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.
