problem with SLES on Compaq Proliant with Raid 1 and Raid 5...
Hi,
We try to install Suse Linux Enterprise Server on Compaq Proliant Servers and we encounter a strange problem with the array controller and/or hot plug disks.
We try on 3 different servers: 2 DL380 R1, and 1 DL380G2. All have been patched with the last firmwares.
Config
*****
SLES 7: default install
Raid 1 or Raid 5.
LVM configured or not configured...
Problem
******
The disks seem to be accessed permanently; more precisely, if only one array has been set up, the access led (pointer) of all the disks are lighted up permanently, despite the fact that no special process has been started. It stops sometimes for 1 or 2 seconds...
When several arrays have been configured, then there is a lighting up cycle of about 5 minutes from one array to an other array.
It happens for Raid 1 and Raid 5 but not for Raid 0; same computers with other OS (Netware) don't show this strange behaviour.
What can we do? Do you have some idea? Could it be "cosmetic"?
Thanks in advance for help.
Philippe
