Now,I have a VA7110, having 8 disks,and want to connect with a rp5470 directly;
1.
how many RAID mode with VA7110,RAID1+0,AUTO-RAID? or more?? Can do a RAID 5?
2.
Shoud the machine will identify the VA7110 automaticlly after connection?
3.the attachement is correct??

Solution
1. Only RAID 0/1 and AutoRAID mode. RAID 0/1 mode is really RAID 0/1 mode, but AutoRAID mode uses combination or RAID 0/1 mode and RAID5DP mode. Although RAID 0/1 mode is usually faster, AutoRAID mode is space-wise and offers higher data protection (double protection in RAID5DP, DP=dual parity). I would use AutoRAID mode for databases and RAID 0/1 mode for real-time multimedia;
2. before nachine will identify VA LUNs correctly, you need to set VA up:
a) with direct connect you should check with VA's vfp that VA host ports are configured to work in private loop;
b) check that default VA host port behavior is set to hpux;
connect to VA's virtual front panel (9600/8/N/1) and use 'help' command to see all available commands and options.
