"Best practice" config of MSA30 on RP3440
I need to configure logical drives on an MSA30 with (8) 72GB drives, using RAID5. It's attached to a new RP3440. I'm not finding much detail in the installation or support guides and need to some help on the saconfig command.
How do I tell which values to use for the -p (channel:target) option?
Do I need to worry about stripe size, or take the default?
Here's the output from saconfig:
******************* SmartArray RAID Controller /dev/ciss4 ********************
---------- PHYSICAL DRIVES ----------
Location Ch ID Size Status
External 2 0 72.8 GB UNASSIGNED
External 2 1 72.8 GB UNASSIGNED
External 2 2 72.8 GB UNASSIGNED
External 2 3 72.8 GB UNASSIGNED
External 4 0 72.8 GB UNASSIGNED
External 4 1 72.8 GB UNASSIGNED
External 4 2 72.8 GB UNASSIGNED
External 4 3 72.8 GB UNASSIGNED
Thanks in advance.

Re: "Best practice" config of MSA30 on RP3440
Thanks Grisha. I have the support guide for the RAID160 controller and I understand the saconfig command & the mechanics of how to configure the logical drives. I was actually trying to determine if it matters which combination of drives you use to create a logical drive and whether to change the stripe size. I ended up creating one logical drive using 7 drives and 1 spare.
